You’re Not Alone in This — Let’s Answer Your Questions

Whether you’re considering me for your counseling needs or just curious about mental health counseling, here’s what you need to know.

1. Fill out the form with your information on the contact page here and selecting the ‘Request a session’ button.

2. Willow & Well Counseling will review your information and call, text or email you to connect with scheduling and additional information needed prior to the first session.

I support individuals facing anxiety, relationship wounds, trauma recovery, and the effects of emotional and narcissistic abuse. However, these are common issues I see, but I offer counseling for a wide range of issues, which you can find on the services page here.

I work with individuals ages 6 years old and up.

Trauma-informed counseling recognizes the impact of trauma on individuals and emphasizes safety, empowerment, and healing in the therapeutic process.

I incorporate clients’ faith perspectives into therapy, fostering a holistic approach to healing that honors spiritual beliefs and personal values.

Yes, online counseling can be just as effective as in-person sessions, providing flexibility and accessibility for clients in a safe environment.

I choose not to work directly with insurance so I can provide more personalized, flexible care without the restrictions that insurance companies often place on treatment. This allows us to focus entirely on your unique goals, not a diagnosis or mandated treatment plan.

To honor both your commitment and the time reserved for your care, program fees are collected prior to your start date. Biweekly payment plans are billed at the beginning of each two-week cycle.

If you’re not using insurance, you’re entitled by law to receive a Good Faith Estimate that outlines the expected costs of your care, including counseling or psychotherapy services.

You have the right to:

Request a written estimate of the total cost of services before you begin or at any time during treatment.

Receive clear information about session fees and any additional costs.

Dispute any bill that is $400 or more over the estimated cost.

This estimate helps ensure transparency and supports your ability to make informed decisions about your care. Be sure to keep a copy of your Good Faith Estimate for your records.

If you need to cancel a session, please try to let me know at least 24 hours in advance. I understand that life happens—if a cancellation comes in less than 24 hours before our appointment, if you miss the session, or arrive more than 15 minutes late, a late cancellation or no-show fee may apply. This helps me keep the schedule open for others who may need support.

Insurance & Reimbursement FAQ

Find answers to common questions about payment, insurance, and what to expect financially—so you can focus on healing, not paperwork.

Possibly! Many clients are able to get partial reimbursement for out-of-network counseling services. I can provide a superbill (a detailed receipt) that you can submit to your insurance company. I recommend calling your provider to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits before starting sessions.

1. Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
2. Will you reimburse for sessions with a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A)?
3. What percentage of the session fee is reimbursed?
4. Is there a deductible I need to meet first?
5. Do I need a referral or diagnosis to qualify?

6. What mental health services (codes) do you cover/not cover?

If you’re planning to request reimbursement from your insurance, you might find Reimbursify helpful. It’s a platform that can also be downloaded as an app. It allows you to upload your superbills (which I’ll provide for you), and they’ll handle the claim submission for you.

Your first claim through the app is free, and after that, there’s just a small fee per submission. It’s a great option if you want to skip the hassle of paperwork and let someone else do the filing.

If you prefer to file on your own, be sure to call the number on the back of your insurance card ahead of time and ask about your out-of-network benefits—that way you’ll know exactly what to expect.

You can find more information on there website, here.

Yes! Counseling sessions are generally considered eligible medical expenses, so you can usually use your HSA or FSA funds to cover the cost. You can pay me directly with your HSA/FSA debit card, or pay out-of-pocket and then submit the receipt or superbill to your HSA/FSA administrator for reimbursement. If you’re unsure, it’s always a good idea to check with your plan provider.
